SAFe vs Certified Scrum Master certification

SAFe agilest certification which is also known as Leading SAFe and the CSM certifications are considered to be amongst the most popular, well-recognized, and acknowledged ones in the industry. Though both the certifications are quite popular among people and yet they consider them to be similar. So to all those people out there who think these certifications to be similar, why not take a good look at this article and then get to know the differences that we have gathered for such people.

Difference between SAFe and CSM certification:

The following table has some major differences between both the certifications and after reading this, you can understand what they are and offer.

Leading SAFe
Certified Scrum Master
The Scaled Agile, Inc is known to be a certifying body of the SAFe. This professional Certification program provides you a valid, reliable and a consistent method of assessing SAFe skills, knowledge, and mindset.
Whereas, CSM is an entry-level credential that is been designed to give professionals a career as Scrum practitioners and an understanding of the project management methodology.

The Scaled Agile Framework aims to resolve all such scaling issues that can occur in an agile environment. These types of issues are the ones that can be a little challenging to be sorted by Scrum or agile frameworks.
As a CSM, you get to lead a team in an agile environment and guide them the ways to complete the project effectively and within the given time and budget. Precisely, you can help your Scrum tem perform at their highest level.
To earn this certification, you need to have a minimum 5 years of experience.
On the other hand, for CSM certification all that is required of you is to have a basic knowledge of software development.
The SAFe exam is very difficult to pass and requires a lot of time and effort.
As compared to SAFe, the CSM exam is a little easy to pass and anyone who has even the slightest understanding of software development can easily prepare for the exam.
The certified SAFe professionals are luckily recognized globally for their ability to support the successful transformation of organizations into lean-agile enterprise.
Similarly, like SAFe, the CSM certification is also recognized globally and no matter where you are or what industry you want to enter, there is always a room for s CSM certified.
To pass the exam, you need to answer at least 34 questions correct out of 40. Which means that the passing percentage here is 76.
Contrary, the passing percentage of the CSM exam is 74. This means that out of 50 questions, you are supposed to answer 37 questions correctly.
The certificate that you gain after clearing the exam will only be valid for one year. After that, you need to extend your validity by paying a $100 fee.
Whereas, the CSM certification is valid for 2 years which is 1 more year than SAFe. To extend your certification, you also need to pay a $100 fee.

Conclusion:

In the end, keep one thing in mind is that whatever the certification you choose will have equal value as both are recognized globally and have great deal of recognition in the Scrum world as well. The only thing that can make you want to earn a CSM certification in our view is that preparing for the CSM exam with the help of CSM Practice test is a little easier as compared to SAFe exam. Other than that, both the certifications are of equal value and demand. So choose to earn one now and don’t forget to stay home, stay safe and never stop learning.
